CAFE LA VIET

Since 2018, Cafe la Viet has been a popular Vietnamese restaurant in North London. For this project, they commissioned us to photograph their food, create new menu in digital format, and design social media posts. The client wanted us to follow their new brand guidelines to refresh their brand image, infusing it with a youthful vibe.

INSPIRATION

Vietnam is an interesting Southeast Asian country known for its fresh and light cuisine, including dishes like salads, pho, and Vietnamese baguettes (Banh mi).

As a major rice-producing country, rice plays a significant role in the daily diet of the Vietnamese. Drawing inspiration from rice, we used light beige, symbolizing rice, as the main color in the menu design.

VIBE & VISUAL

The design style takes on a youthful and energetic direction, using light beige and bright pink as the primary colors. The vibrant, youthful colors and clean, sharp layout are designed to first draw the customer’s attention to the food images, sparking their appetite, and then to the accompanying text.

KEY FOCUS #1: Banh MI

These are a newly reintroduced product for Cafe la Viet and are intended to be one of the core elements of the new menu, highlighting simple ingredients and authentic Vietnamese flavors. During the photoshoot, we focused on showcasing the fillings prominently. In the menu design, four banh mi take up an entire panel, with enlarged details making it easier for customers to understand the different fillings.

KEY FOCUS #2: PHO

Pho is one of their best-selling items, with the beef combo pho being particularly popular. As a result, the image of it occupies one-third of the layout. This approach ensures that customers can easily recognize the restaurant's signature dish at first glance, increasing the likelihood that they will choose this item.
